With applications growing for low-power, small-size electronic devices, the latest Bias Power BPS-2 Series micro-size switching power supplies give designers new options. Occupying well under a cubic inch of space, the BPS-2 solves a number of design problems. Smaller than other power options, it provides a “one component” solution, with single or dual output, 85-265VAC universal input and extremely high reliability. The patented* circuit design also effectively eliminates line EMI, so that no input filtering is required. The BPS is ideal for a variety of low-power and standby mode applications in appliances, consumer electronics and control devices, providing power to system clocks, processors, IR remote receivers, membrane keypads and LED panel lighting. The BPS-2 efficiently handles the widest possible load variations and has a no-load power consumption of less than 30 mW,. Basic low-power applications for the BPS-2 are also widespread, including powering remote and networked sensors, power-line carrier, relay drivers, test equipment, IR receivers, building automation, audio, video, security, AC power adapters and bias supplies. The Bias design is “regulatory ready,” and blocks EMI by isolating the input path for the duration of the conducted noise. The circuit also maximizes conversion efficiency up to 75% and effectively regulates output voltages. Outputs of 8, 14 and 8 & 5 VDC are available. It measures just 1” x 7/8” x 1/2”. The BPS-2 has extremely rugged construction, making it well suited for portable and harsh environment applications. Because it is a ready-to-apply solution, use of the BPS can shorten the design cycle and eliminate the need to source and inventory multiple power supply components.
