The 24-watt lamp is the latest addition to the company’s precision-manufactured UV product family—an offering that has been field-proven in applications ranging from photo-activation and spectrophotometry to medical point-of-care testing. “With the addition of our new 24-watt arc lamp, we’re able to offer customers a broad range of highly efficient, technically specified UVA products that can be customized for their particular applications,” said Doug Rutan, Welch Allyn marketing manager. “While our Solarc lamps produce extremely intense UVA and blue light, our halogen lamps provide highly stable UV light at an affordable price. Both technologies share the consistent, repeatable output and certainty of performance that are the hallmark of all Welch Allyn products.” Welch Allyn’s complete UV lamp offering includes bright, efficient Solarc metal halide lamps and HPX® miniature precision halogen lamps. Solarc UV lamps are now available in 24- and 50-watt configurations. They produce highly intense, elliptically focused light in the UVA and blue, 320- to 500-nm range, making them ideal for spot and fiber illumination. Moreover, Solarc lamps’ efficient operation and design allow system integrators to incorporate them into compact devices and minimize energy use. The company’s HPX® miniature halogen lamps are available in 5- and 8-watt models with output extended down to the 300- to 400-nm range while retaining full spectral output into the near IR. Based on careful component selection that allows UVA transmission, the HPX UV lamps are unique on the market today. Bright, small, efficient and stable, these sources are enabling next-generation devices such as low-cost point-of-care and portable analytical equipment.
