35-72P gas ignition control eliminates mercury switch

Description

Mercury flame sensor systems are being replaced by appliance
manufacturers due to limited availability of the mercury switch and strict
U.S. environmental standards. To meet this demand, Fenwal Controls, a
leading manufacturer of automatic gas ignition and temperature controls, now
offers a unique, one-piece 120 VAC microprocessor based pilot ignition
control that is mercury-free.

The Fenwal 35-72P ignites the pilot flame on LP or natural gas heating
equipment, providing high energy sparking, dependable flame sensing and
automatic control of the main gas valve. A custom control sequence within
the system opens the main gas valve only after the pilot flame is sensed.
This allows the 35-72P to replace both the pilot re-igniter and the mercury
flame switch previously used in many commercial cooking appliances.

"A number of our customers are phasing out pilot relighter and mercury flame
switch combinations to meet environmental and recycling regulations," said
Jerry Harting, Director of Sales and Marketing for Fenwal Controls. "We're
pleased to offer a gas ignition control that meets green considerations as
well as the strict product performance and reliability requirements of
OEMs."

The 35-72P is also suited for use in specialty applications not requiring
gas valve control the V1 output can be used to indicate presence of the
flame. The 120VAC output level interfaces easily to diagnostic panels or
other control systems. The 35-72P is design certified by CSA International
to CAN C22.2 #199-M89 and ANSI Z21.20 for Automatic Ignition Systems.

Features:

·     Two mounting configurations (Open Board with Stand-Offs for space and
cost savings, or Potted for washdown and high vibration applications)

·     Multi-pin connector enables fast assembly

·     Continuous spark ignition whenever the pilot flame is not sensed

·     Single spark and flame sense design

·     Control of main gas valve whenever flame is sensed
