Aluminum Roof Hatch Railing System

Description

Designed to fit all standard models offered by the manufacturers of roof hatches (e.g. Bilco, Babcock Davis, Nystrom, et. al.), the new KeeHatch roof hatch railing system from Kee Safety, Inc., Buffalo, NY, can be installed by one person in less than 30 minutes. It features fewer parts to assemble than other hatch railings as well as pre-built uprights and drop-in fittings to install the horizontal rails with ease, according to the company. Used for safe egress and ingress through roof hatches, and fall protection when a hatch is open, the lightweight aluminum railings affix to the hatch and do not penetrate the roof itself.

Constructed of high-grade Aluminum Silicon Magnesium Alloy for strength and corrosion resistance, the new KeeHatch complies with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.23, which requires that exposed sides of openings in roofs or floors have guardrail protection. The system also complies with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.27 in that it meets or exceeds the minimum load requirement of 200 lbs. and has side railings offering an adequate gripping surface without sharp edges or snag points, Kee Safety states. The new safety railing  system is covered by U.S. Patent #6,167,659 with other patents pending. The new KeeHatch is available in seven standard models to fit the full range of roof hatches. The safety railing system also integrates with existing openings and ladder ways, and can be customized to suit different sizes and situations, according to Kee Safety.
