Biofiltration Technology Proves Efficient Solution for VOC Emission Control

Description

. Tri-Mer Corporation, a technology leader in air pollution control, announces a major advance in biofiltration for the efficient control of VOC emissions. The Tri-Mer system has proved to be a practical alternative to thermal oxidizers, in-bed biofiltration, and aerobic digestion for the control of VOC emissions from virtually all sources. This new biofiltration-based VOC control alternative combines the best characteristics of an in-bed bioscrubber and aerobic digestion with the high removal efficiency of micron-scale mist scrubbing. The Tri-Mer system treats high inlet concentrations of VOC emissions and is effective against a broad spectrum of VOC emission types. Alcohols, including methanol and other high vapor pressure VOCs, are simultaneously treated along with more difficult VOC compounds such as turpenes, pinenes, methanol, and terpenes. Formaldehyde emissions, perhaps the most problematical from a regulatory perspective, are readily removed by the Tri-Mer system. The system is highly flexible and is engineered to specific customer requirements; however, its underlying design philosophy always focuses on MACT compliance. Unlike the large, in-bed biofilters approach of the past, this new technology can be sited close to the emission source, minimizing the cost and complexity of long duct runs. Its tower configuration has a small footprint that can be adapted to the space constraints of virtually any facility. Tri-Mer’s VOC emission control technology (patent pending) has been shown to be less expensive to install and less costly to operate than older approaches. It provides high removal rates on high particulate concentrations and heavy loadings of biological treatment products, without clogging the media beds. Media is permanent: no replacement of media or packing is necessary. The system is highly reliable, with low maintenance and operating costs. Tri-Mer’s VOC control system generates minimal waste and does not create NOx by-products. It was designed to be the most “green” of all methods currently available for the control of VOC air emissions. Time is critical in complying with air emissions regulations found in the VOC MACT standards. Now, there is a cost effective, reliable and proven biofiltration option available.
