C396 Electronic Overload, The Solution For Accurate, Reliable Performance

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced the release of its C396 Electronic Overload. The motor protective device directly measures motor current, enabling it to model a motor’s thermal condition. The C396 identifies excessive current or “loss of phase” more accurately than traditional bi-metallic overloads, reacting to the motor stress conditions with greater speed and reliability.

“Eaton has significantly invested in the research and design of the C396,” says Zari Talebi, marketing communications specialist. “As a result, we’re able to give customers a reliable and flexible option to meet their motor protection needs.”

The C396 is a flexible option for applications that require:
· Motor overload
· Phase unbalance
· Phase failure protection

It also has low energy consumption, minimizing temperature rise issues inside control cabinets and has a noticeable impact on energy costs, an advantage other products do not offer.

The C396’s reduces inventory stocking requirements and the associated carrying costs with its wide 5:1 Full Load Ampere range. The wide range results in the need for less than half as many catalog numbers as a traditional bi-metallic alternative, all while covering the same current range. This also allows for greater installation flexibility for dual voltage machines.

The C396 is available as a stand-alone device with a current range from 0.1 to 150A, which can be increased to 1,500A with an external current transformer kit and selectable trip class 5, 10, 20 or 30. The product will also be offered as starters in conjunction with XT IEC Power Control, Freedom Series NEMA Power Control and DP Control products.
