Epoxy Resin Compound for Bonding Treated Fluoropolymers

Description

Master Bond Inc., Hackensack, N.J. has introduced Polymer System EP19M, a high performance epoxy resin formulation specially formulated to bond to treated fluoropolymers and other difficult to bond surfaces. It is supplied as a single component low viscosity compound and requires cures at elevated temperatures in order to obtain high bond strength. The bonds formed are durable and maintain their strength properties when exposed to humidity, high temperatures and other unfavorable environmental conditions. Cures can be affected by heating over 150°C for approximately 30 to 50 minutes. EP19M has superior thermal stability for service up to 150°C. EP19M features remarkably long shelf life and excellent storage characteristics at ambient temperatures yet cures readily at elevated temperatures to a tough, strong and chemically resistant thermoset plastic. The cured material has high physical strength properties (tensile strength more than 8,500 psi), is thermally stable (heat deflection temperature more than 153°C) and has superior electrical insulation properties with a volume resistivity greater than 1015 ohm-cm. It has good chemical resistant properties to water, inorganic acids, bases, salts and many organic solvents. For example there is only a 0.65% weight gain for 30 days of exposure to 50% sulfuric acid. EP19M is available in pint, quart, gallon and 5 gallon containers.
