Great Lakes Air Systems, Inc. - Filter Life

CLAWSON, MI – October 13, 2008 – Great Lakes Air Systems, the leader in welding air filtration, headquartered in Clawson, Michigan, knows that filter life can be a nightmare in welding applications. We have seen companies install systems, and start changing filters every 2-6 weeks! The RoboVent system uses several unique features which dramatically extend filter life.

Vertical filters shed particulate better. Many systems use filters that are installed in the equipment horizontally. This horizontal design allows for dust build-up on the top of the filter, ruining the top third of the filter in the first 10-20% of the filters life. This greatly increases the loading on the bottom two-thirds, resulting in pre-mature blinding of the filters.

Patented Downflow design keeps dust moving in the right direction. The downflow design uses gravity to its advantage by moving the air in a single direction downward through the cabinet. The dust is deposited quickly into the dust tray.

PowerFlex Self-Cleaning system increases life. The RoboVent PowerFlex Self-Cleaning system increases filter life through a powerful pulsing mechanism. The system used compressed air to back-flush the filters, allowing the dust to settle into a dust tray. The system is one of the most powerful in the industry, using a venturi to induce additional air instead of just the compressed air itself. This system is operated by a digital, programmable, PSC Pulse controller which automatically pulses the system on every shut-down and at Delta-P differential settings.
