Industrial Ethernet Switches with Alarm Output

Description

WAGO Corporation’s 852 Series Ethernet switches offer an alarm contact, enabled via dip switch, to signal an error condition on the switch.  This feature is standard on both managed and unmanaged switches (non-ECO versions).

The power input connector on the switch has two dedicated alarm circuit connections that can be wired to any warning device, such as a PLC or pilot light.  Error conditions that can be monitored include port link failure (cable disconnect, network disruption, etc.), power supply disruption/disconnect, or power supply voltage out of specified range (9…48V).

“The alarm contact feature is a small but extremely useful feature in today’s factory and process automation applications,” said Dean Norton, Marketing Manager at WAGO. “For example, the alarm circuit could be wired to the input of a PLC, be monitored by that PLC, and a procedure created in the PLC code to handle the fault condition.  As a result, downtime can be minimized.”

WAGO is the worldwide leader in spring pressure connection technology that eliminates loose wires as a result of vibration and temperature cycling, as well as provides highly reliable, corrosion-resistant and maintenance-free connections. Our complete line of spring pressure connection products includes: DIN-rail mount terminal blocks, chassis mount terminal blocks, PCB mount terminal blocks, relays, signal conditioners, power supplies, surge suppressors, the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM and more.
