Metal Pushbutton Switch Series Now with Latching Action

Description

SANTA ROSA, California (November 12, 2007) Schurter extends its successful range of robust metal pushbutton switches to include a latching-action ON/OFF version, for use in primary or secondary switching applications. The new MSM LA is rated 30 VDC and 250 VAC with a maximum switching current of 12 Amps. It features two isolated contacts for 1- or 2- pole switching functions.

The switch provides mechanical indication in the ON and OFF positions. The actuator is raised above the switch housing in the resting OFF state and is recessed into the housing when depressed to switch ON. The distinct difference in position makes the mode of operation immediately evident. It also prevents inadvertent switching; for instance in the event persons or objects lean on the switch. The switch also offers ring illumination in red, green or blue, which is ideal for use in applications located in dimly lit areas or for nighttime use, such as ticketing machines in parking garages or security access controls on buildings.

The MSM LA also carries an IP 67 seal protection rating from the front for use in equipment exposed to liquids or dust. The shock resistant quality is an excellent feature for heavy use or high impact areas. The operating temperature range is -25 °C to + 85 °C. Applications include various types of control panels used in marine, automotive and aircraft; industrial controllers for manufacturing equipment including processing and packaging equipment; self-service kiosks and vending equipment; public and institutional security access systems; audio and entertainment systems; medical diagnostic machines, as well as hospital supply equipment including wheel chairs and hospital beds.

The MSM LA micro switch is UL, CSA and ENEC approved. The housing is available with mounting diameters of 19 and 22 mm. The micro switch is supplied separate from the housing for pre-wiring before installation. Check for custom requirements, e.g. point illumination, lettering or variations in mounting dimensions. Lead-time is stock to six weeks for standard types. Pricing starts at under $12.00 in 100 pieces quantities.
