New High-Frequency OCXOs from MMD Provide Lower Phase Noise and Jitter than Multiple Low-Frequency OCXOs

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif., July 12, 2006 – MMD Components (Monitor & Quartztek), a producer of frequency control devices, has introduced a new line of high-frequency oven-controlled crystal oscillators (OCXOs). Previously, the only available option for customers looking for high frequency in an OCXO was to purchase multiple low-frequency OCXOs that combined to provide the actual frequency required but which often created additional phase noise and jitter.

MMD’s new high-frequency OCXOs feature a non-PLL (phase-locked loop) design that enables users to specify frequencies up to 1 GHz, which results in less external frequency multiplication, less phase noise and low jitter.

Units can maintain stabilities as low as ±250 ppb over an operating temperature range of -40ºC to +85ºC and ±100 ppb at temperatures from -20ºC to +70 ºC. The high-frequency OCXOs come in a wide variety of package options and voltage configurations. Moreover, their enhanced internal voltage regulation minimizes the requirements for high-stability power supplies; the units support supply voltages as low as 3.3V.

Availability for MMD’ new high-frequency OCXOs is stock to 14 weeks, with prices starting at $275 each in 25-unit quantities.
