New Vehicle AutoID Graphics Computer

Description

Intelligent Instrumentation, a leading manufacturer of rugged networked and wireless data collection computers, announces the newest addition to their LANpointâ family of open architectured industrial data collection computers. The LANpoint 7 vehicle-mount computers include the Windows CE.NET operating system running on an Intel® X-Scale® processor. These rugged, high-powered AutoID computers are designed for demanding industrial, manufacturing and supply chain applications. Their waterproof, dustproof cases easily handle dusty, dirty, or spray down environments. The new LANpoint 7 computers are powered by an IntelÒ XScaleÔ 400MHz RISC processor, provide nonvolatile storage expandable to 500MB, have standard IEEE802.11b/g wireless connectivity, are RoHS compliant, and have all the industrial features demanded by frontline end users and IT professionals alike. LANpoint 7 computers retain popular features of the older LANpoint CE.NET computers while incorporating improvements that customers suggested. These improvements include a lower price and many hardware and software enhancements: a more compact size while retaining the integrated full-size keyboard; more WAN wireless connectivity - IEEE802.11b/g 11Mbps/54Mbps; a brighter ½ VGA LCD display with a wider viewing angle; an expanded operating temperature range without the need for a power-hungry heater; and more software utilities like the unique lock-down (kiosk) web browser which runs web-based applications while locking-out surfing and other non-productive uses. The vehicle-mount LANpoint 7 data collection computers are based on Microsoft’s Windows CE.NET (Windows CE 4.2) OS, which provides a stable and flexible embedded operating system for enterprise devices. Programmers can use their existing desktop development skills with C/C++ or Microsoft’s Visual Studio.NET development tools for creating custom managed-code solutions in either Visual Basic.NET or Visual C#.NET. Web-enabled system administration tools, a wide range of software programmability, and a full selection of installation and accessories make for unparalleled ease of implementation and system management. Standard networking and utility software includes TCP/IP, SNMP, MSMQ, Microsoft Terminal Services Client, and remote network management provided by a Web-server application that comes loaded on every LANpoint 7. In addition, all popular terminal emulation interfaces are available – VT, HP, IBM5250, and IBM3270. Having no moving parts and a high quality case, the vehicle-mount LANpoint 7 computers are designed specifically for long life in harsh industrial environments. They have been subjected to and successfully passed MIL-STD-810E and SAE J 1455 shock and vibration tests performed by an independent third-party laboratory. The case is weatherproof, sealing out water spray from all angles, protecting the electronics from the damaging effects of water and dust. The sealed keyboard provides excellent tactile feedback and is large enough for easy use with gloved fingers. The programmable function keys can be easily configured for use as soft-keys, repetitive data string entry, or menu selectors using the PFK configuration utility. Four LED indicators provide status feedback, and four additional LED indicators are user-definable. The LANpoint 7 computers are available with touch or non-touch displays – a more economical computer for applications that do not require touch screen functionality, like terminal emulation and some web-enabled applications – or a highquality touch screen computer for those applications that need it. The analog resistive touch screens include hard coat and anti-glare surface treatments to make the touch screen models as tough and easy to view as the non-touch screen models. Cold temperature operations are usually limited because of characteristics of LCD displays. That is not the case with the LANpoint 7 - the high-quality displays extend the operating temperature at both the hot and cold ends of the scale. As a result, this computer has a standard operational temperature range of -20°C to 55°C, -4°F to 131°F. The vehicle-mount LANpoint 7 computers are available now. A full line of accessories and options is available, from AutoID devices to battery backup packs and installation kits. A PS/2 connector allows use of wedge readers as well as external keyboards. Three COM ports come standard on every unit. Optional digital I/O modules provide eight optoisolated digital inputs and up to eight digital relay outputs. There is even the thoughtful addition of a 3.3V, 5Vand 12V power source for 2D laser scanners, RFID reader/writers, and other AutoID devices. Intelligent Instrumentation provides everything necessary to get the LANpoint 7 AutoID computers installed and running quickly.
