Non-Yellowing Waterborne Aliphatic Urethane Adhesive/Coating

Description

A light stable, aliphatic urethane composition called LTX123 has been introduced by Master Bond, Inc., Hackensack, NJ. In an effort to increase worker safety and reduce volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the environment, industry continues to shift from solvent-borne to waterborne coatings. Urethanes are known to provide hard, durable finishes that offer protection against UV rays. Urethane dispersions can be used alone or can be blended with other resins to improve a number of film properties including elasticity and recovery characteristics. Master Bond Polymer System LTX123 is such a blended composition. It has high specific adhesion to a broad spectrum of polymeric substrates, superior UV and oxidation resistance and high thermal stability. Adhesion is particularly strong to vinyl, polyester, polyethylene and nylon substrates with tensile strengths reaching 2100 psi (150 kg/cm2). Adhesion to glass is likewise very good. Master Bond Polymer System LTX123 offers an outstanding combination of heat resistance, gloss, slip, non-yellowing behavior and excellent solvent resistance.
