ONE-STATION AND TW0-STATION VMC’S

Description

STAMA America announces System 5, a range of vertical machining centers designed around the company’s flexible production concept. These versatile VMC’s are offered as one-station or two-station models, each with one spindle or the STAMA Twin arrangement of dual spindles set in line. System 5 is designed to accommodate very large workpieces, as the X-axis live area can reach 10,000mm (~394”). Alternatively, the two-station models can be utilized for multiple workpieces in line or in a shuttle system of “work one, load other” production, whether in wet or dry machining conditions. Each work station can be equipped with the STAMA trunnion for fast, accurate part manipulation and 6-sided machining. Direct digital drive 3-, 4- and 5-axis movements are all available in either the single or dual spindle set-ups, on the one-station or two-station models, enabling a shop to customize the System 5 machine to a specific range of applications. Workpieces up to 1700 kg (3740 lb.) are possible per station. An automatic opening system on the work area casing allows overhead crane loading of heavy blanks and fixture assemblies. These STAMA VMC’s all feature a robust base frame with integral chip conveyor, intrinsically rigid cast spindle headstock for heavy-duty milling, large enclosed working area for multiple clampings and a remote tool magazine, up to 70-position with patented STAMA Intelligent Tool Management, that’s isolated from chips and coolant ejection. All machine motions are controlled by a multi-processor CNC that allows simultaneous production of identical parts, similar/mated parts or extremely large, complex single parts in fully automated mode.
