Rectangular Miniature Diffuse Sensors are Less Costly and Easier to Install Than Fibre-Optic Solutions; Replace Larger Devices

Description

New Contrinex miniature rectangular sensors are characterized by their remarkably small size of 5 x 7 mm, with a housing length of 40 mm. The spherical sapphire lens is scratch resistant and projects a virtually cylindrical light beam with a diameter < 4 mm, permitting vertical as well as horizontal mounting directly onto the support.

In addition, the narrowly focussed light beam detects objects through holes and gaps, as well as closely lined-up or laterally approaching objects whose distance from the sensor cannot be kept constant.

Despite their small size, these devices are fully self-contained, making an additional evaluation unit unnecessary. As a result, they are less costly and easier to install than fibre-optic solutions. And, because of their sensing range, they can also replace larger switches where mounting space is limited.

These new devices are short-circuit proof and operate in a voltage range of 10 … 30 VDC, and with an output current of up to 100 mA. They are fully vacuum potted and, as a result, largely insensitive to environmental influences (degree of protection IP 67).

CONTRINEX has manufactured inductive and photoelectric proximity switches since 1972. It specializes exclusively in the development, manufacture and sales of positioning sensors for industrial use. All departments and management levels in the company’s management system are ISO 9001:2000 certified.
