Self-Testing Ground Fault Receptacles

Description

CIRCUITPRO® Devices Automatically Notify Users of Ground Fault Problems

MILFORD, Conn., Dec. 6, 2005 – Bryant announces the CIRCUITPRO® series of automated, self-testing ground fault receptacles. The devices continually test themselves every 60 seconds to verify that they are fully operational, while still providing proper ground fault protection. In addition, the CIRCUITPRO® units quickly notify the user if ground fault protection has been compromised or if a ground fault condition exists.

Standard ground fault receptacles call for the user to manually test and reset the receptacle once per month for the life of the device. Bryant’s new CIRCUITPRO® technology automates this process and removes the need for manual testing.

Status of the Bryant self-test ground fault is indicated through a red and green LED on the face of the device. A solid red LED light signals a ground fault condition, while a flashing red light signals a loss of ground fault protection. The flashing red LED cannot be reset and will continue to flash until the device is replaced. The green LED functions as a power indicator and will remain on as long as there is power to the receptacle.

Available in commercial grade, hospital grade and blank face, standard features of the Bryant CIRCUITPRO® self-testing ground fault receptacles include a 10,000 Amp short circuit rating and full compliance with UL943 changes scheduled to take effect July 1, 2006.
