Servo Drives Deliver Advanced Functionality in an Ultra Compact Design at Low Cost


Omron Electronics LLC addresses machine builder concerns about how to reduce the complexity of applying servo drives and achieve faster start-up and more reliable operation in a smaller, lower cost package with the new R7D-B Series Servo Drives. Practical functionality featuring simple, real-time auto-tuning and adaptive vibration suppression shorten startup time to achieve reliable performance. The servo drives, up to 400 W, mate to 3000 rpm R88M-G Series cylindrical and flat servomotors for a complete system.

The small footprint of R7D-B servo drives, measuring just 120 H x 35 W x 105 D mm, reduces the control panel space requirements and leaves room for other controls on the same rail. Simple auto-tuning eliminates the need for complicated adjustments and shortens start-up time. Omron's adaptive vibration suppression reduces the amount of vibration as work travels between positions, shortening positioning time and improving accuracy for higher productivity. The torque limiting function in R7D-B servo drives allows machine builders to set two torque limits and switch between them to handle applications such as part insertion and pressing for extrusion and embossing. Set multiple servo drives with the same parameters and reduce start-up time by using the copy function built into the hand-held keypad and the configuration software.

Omron's R7D-B servo drives are available in 50 W to 400 W models in 120 VAC and 240 VAC single-phase and 240 VAC three-phase versions. They provide reliable and accurate control for R88M-G servomotors, rated at 3,000 rpm and available in cylindrical and flat models. Motor options include straight shaft, key tap shaft, brake and oil seal.
