‘Severe Duty’ Barrel Bearings

Description

To meet the changing high-performance requirements in Tier 4 engines and powertrain systems, the Hydraulic Pump Division of Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, has improved its small-frame GOLD CUP® pumps with two enhanced bearing cage designs.

Parker GOLD CUP hydrostatic piston pumps have long featured a rugged barrel bearing that outperforms shaft bearings and meets the needs of most applications. However, new Tier 4 engines with increased torsional acceleration and vibration, coupled with greater demands for increased machine productivity, can deteriorate component life in challenging applications.

In response, Parker has expanded its bearing offering for small-frame size 6/7/8 GOLD CUP pumps with improved bearing cage designs that enable maximum productivity and dramatically improved pump life in severe-duty environments.

The new Parker Severe Duty barrel bearing features a larger, thicker and more robust cage construction for double the strength of a standard barrel bearing.

All the benefits of the Severe Duty bearing are also found in the new Parker Extreme Duty barrel bearing while running with low-viscosity and exotic fluids and accommodating higher temperature demands. It features a single-piece bronze cage that provides the greatest strength and lowest friction on the market. It is ideal for severe heavy-duty applications in the mining, oil and gas, and military industries. Importantly, the Extreme Duty bearing is available for all Gold Cup frame sizes.
