Description

 The new AS1xxx stepper motors from Beckhoff Automation provide a cost-effective alternative to servo motors in the small and medium capacity ranges. Different stepper motor types in this series have nominal current ratings from 1.0 A to 5.0 A and torques ranging between 0.38 Nm and 5 Nm. The AS1xxx series can be used as actuators or auxiliary axes for numerous machine designs and automation applications.

In conjunction with the KL2531 and KL2541 stepper motor I/O Bus Terminals and TwinCAT automation software, axes can be easily and cost-effectively integrated into any stepper application – without the need for remote amplifiers. This approach requires fewer components, reducing installation costs.

The KL2531 Bus Terminal covers the lower capacity range up to a peak current of 1.5 A per phase with a supply voltage up to 24 V DC. The KL2541 offers higher performance comparable to that of small servo drives. With a peak current of 5 A per phase and a supply voltage from 8 V to 50 V DC, the KL2541 can generate an impressive torque of 5 Nm when used in conjunction with a standard stepper motor.

In order to simplify electrical connections, the stepper motors are equipped with pre-assembled plug connectors. Planetary gear units, incremental encoders and pre-assembled connection cables will become available direct from Beckhoff Automation as accessories.
