Surface Mount Tactile Switch with Illumination


C&K Components, a leading international supplier of tact switches, toggle, rocker and pushbutton switches, and smart card interconnect devices, has developed a compact top-actuated illuminated tactile switch. Designated the K5AT Series, the surface mount tactile switch features an integrated LED as part of its overall robust design. “The K5AT Series switches are able to withstand an actuation force from 4N to 40N, making them suitable for a number of circuit reset applications,” said Jean-Michel Bourin, Product Director for C&K Components. “Because of its quick actuation response, this tact switch provides a three-way ‘see-hear-touch’ effect with an audible click, sharp tactile feel and visual recognition via the LED.” Measuring just 8.0 x 8.4 x 6.1mm, the K5AT Series tact switch is ideal for applications such as telecom and network infrastructure, server and storage reset buttons, as well as medical monitoring equipment and other industrial electronic panels. A high brightness single or bi-color integrated LED is available for backlight illumination. The K5AT Series RoHS-compliant tact switch has an operating life of 100,000 cycles and features a highly reliable gold plated dome contact. IP40 dust protection and flux-tight sealing are also available.
