The EL-USB-TC-LCD from Lascar Electronics is a thermocouple data  logger with direct USB interface. Able to accept input from a  J, K or T-Type thermocouple via a mini-thermocouple connector  at the base of the unit, the battery-operated, standalone data  logger can log and store up to 32,000 temperature readings at  temperature ranges from -328°F to +2372°F / -200°C  to +1300°C. An integrated four digit display provides indication  of minimum, maximum, and last stored temperature readings at the  touch of a button.   Configuration of EL-USB-TC-LCD  is easy. Simply plug the unit directly into the USB port and use  the supplied free software to choose a logger name and sample  rate, select the type of thermocouple used, set high and low alarms,  and opt for immediate, delayed or push-to-start logging. When  logging is complete, take the unit back to the computer where  downloaded data can be graphed, printed and exported to other  spreadsheet applications.   The EL-USB-TC-LCD is  available immediately from Lascar Electronics at $100 and is supplied  with free configuration software, a basic K-type probe, and a  1/2AA lithium battery.
