UV Curable Polymer Is Flexible Yet Strong


Master Bond UV10FL-1 is a one component UV curable compound for high performance casting and bonding applications developed by Master Bond Inc., Hackensack, NJ. Its Bond strength is equal or exceeds those obtained from conventional room temperature curing epoxy compositions.  UV10FL-1 exhibits a high strength profile and stiffness profile with a tensile strength of 2,850 psi, a tensile modulus of 154,000 psi and an elongation at break of 43%.  Shore D hardness is 82. This compound doesn’t require complete cure by the UV source since polymerization will continue after exposure.  UV10FL-1 is an excellent insulator with volume resistivity exceeding 1014 ohm-cm. It also exhibits high heat resistance for service up to 150°C (300°F).
Ready for use as supplied, UV10FL-1 is a low 300-400 cps viscosity liquid at room temperature.  Unlike other UV systems, UV10FL-1 can be cured in a wide range of section thicknesses. Castings up to ¼” thick can be prepared. High bond strength is obtained with metals, ceramics, glass, paper, many plastics and elastomers. Long term bond durability is excellent even when exposed to adverse environmental conditions and in contact with water, acids, bases, salts and most organic chemicals. UV10FL-1 has excellent fatigue resistance and performs well under stress even in adverse environments. It is available in syringes for convenient manual or automatic dispensing as well as in pint, quart, gallon and 5 gallon containers.
