3D Stereo Camera - IDS Imaging Development Systems, Inc.

Description

IDS Imaging Development System is launching a new stereo camera with active texture projection for 3D vision applications: the Ensenso N20 is equipped with a Gigabit Ethernet interface and two high-resolution 1.3 megapixel global shutter sensors. Building on the successful introduction last year of the Ensenso N10 with USB 2.0, the new N20 provides a wider field of view making it suitable for capturing larger volumes and for working distances of up to 3 meters. A more powerful projector with blue LEDs, coupled with the high resolution of the sensors, achieves a far greater level of detail and delivers precise 3D data even with difficult surfaces. The GigE interface also permits cable lengths of up to 100 meters. Plus, because the camera is "powered over Ethernet" (PoE), there is no need for an additional cable to supply power.

Like the original N10, the Ensenso N20 employs the "projected texture stereo vision" principle. This works by an integrated projector casting a random point pattern onto the object to be captured, enhancing structures that are not or only faintly visible. As a result, even a single shot delivers a virtually flawless 3D image. Despite the integrated projector and its two CMOS sensors, the Ensenso N20 measures only 175 x 50 x 50 mm, so it takes up little space, while its robust aluminum housing and screw-in connections make it extremely suitable for industrial use. The N20 is available with different focal lengths
