Compact Enclosure Heater

Description

Maintaining clean and dry conditions within electrical enclosures, control cabinets, consoles, and kiosks is vital to ensure proper and optimal functionality and to avoid costly failures of both the equipment within the enclosure and the processes for which they manage.

As ambient temperatures decrease and the dew point is reached, humidity in the air will condense onto surfaces and components within the enclosure causing moisture, corrosion, and short-circuiting problems. Additionally, frost will develop as temperatures reach the freezing point – wreaking havoc on switchgear and other sensitive mechanisms.

The heat generated by electrical controls within an enclosure is often adequate to ward off moisture, however, during de-energized shut down situations, this inherent convection is lost and supplementary heat becomes necessary. Enclosure heaters are widely used to keep interior temperatures above the dew point and eliminate the potential for condensation as well as to keep sensitive items such as valves, ticket printers, and HMI displays warm enough for proper functionality.

To address this need, the Series PFH compact fan heaters from Pfannenberg have been developed to support a wide range of enclosure heating requirements. With a small size of 3.5 x 5.6 x 5.0 inches, the units are offered in a range of heating capacities from 200 to 1200 Watts. The PTC (positive temperature coefficient) heating elements provide fast heating and are self-regulating to promote safety. PTC heating elements automatically limit current draw and output wattage as temperature rises.
