FORMHAND Universal Gripper
Description
The FORMHAND universal gripper replaces product-specific solutions, making production and logistics more flexible.
The combination of the FIPALIFTpro tube lifter and the FORMHAND gripping pad creates an innovative gripping solution that safely picks up goods weighing up to 55 lb. (25 kg). Objects include ones without a flat surface and flexible goods, such as shrink-wrapped PET bottles or tinned food.
A freely deformable gripping cushion filled with granulate nestles close to the surfaces of the goods forming a sealed system; as soon as a vacuum is applied, it becomes firm and fixes the gripped object. This enables it to gently pick up objects with varied shapes without changing grippers. The gripper pad has a large, rectangular suction surface of 12 x 8 in. (300 x 200 mm) and can be changed without tooling. A quick-change adapter connects the FORMHAND pad to the FIPALIFTpro tube lifter.
The universal gripping pads were developed by the young company FORMHAND Automation GmbH in Braunschweig. FIPA has taken over the exclusive distribution of the FORMHAND in combination with the tube lifter FIPALIFTpro.
