HVAC Drives

Description

Danfoss VLT Drives introduces the NEMA/UL Type 4X VLT® HVAC Drive. These robust drives deliver reliable operation in environments subject to windblown dust and rain or splashing water, making them suitable for installation directly at the equipment location. All cast aluminum parts are powder coated with a durable epoxy that can withstand most corrosive chemicals, and because the drives are inherently UL Type 4X there is no need for a separate enclosure. The 4X rating also makes them suitable for NEMA/UL Type 4 and 3R environments.

“Our European associates have implemented this outdoor design successfully for years. Being able to install drives at the equipment location promotes a modular design that maximizes flexibility and allows easy adaptation as operation needs evolve. This also minimizes cable runs which can improve reliability and significantly reduce EMI/RFI issues,” says Steve Gmeinder, Product Manager HVAC. “Users will benefit from a robust single enclosure designed for harsh environments that reduces installation costs and maintenance requirements. This design incorporates a unique cooling concept that can accommodate high ambient temperatures without de-rating or external cooling. In short these drives are built to deliver reliable operation that maximizes uptime, but now enables users to mount the drive where they want to, rather than where they previously had to.”

Some user friendly features that simplify operation and lower costs include an award winning LCP keypad design that reduces commissioning time and hence startup costs, and a watertight USB connection allowing for setup and programming with the drive enclosure sealed. Additionally, OSHPD Seismic Pre-Approval ensures robust drive performance and reduces project approval time enabling users to get their equipment up and running faster. These drives are available in a 1.5 – 60 HP: 200 – 240V; 1.5 – 125 HP: 480V; and 1.5 – 125 HP: 600V power range. They are a perfect solution for demanding HVAC applications such as air handlers, pump stations, cooling towers and other outdoor applications.
