The Liquid Retina display features industry‑leading color accuracy, so you see true‑to‑life color from one rounded corner to the other. Using a process called subpixel anti-aliasing, we rounded the corners by tuning individual pixels for smooth, distortion‑free edges. True Tone dynamically adjusts white balance so images on the display look natural and are easier on your eyes. And thanks to the lowest reflectivity in the industry, the display is clear and readable wherever you take your iPad Pro.
ProMotion technology automatically adjusts the display’s refresh rate based on what you’re doing for the most responsive performance possible. So whether you’re scrolling through pages in Safari, playing an intense 3D game, or drawing a complex illustration with Apple Pencil, everything feels utterly smooth, fast, and immersive.
For the new 12.9‑in. iPad Pro, we kept the same great screen size as the previous generation but reduced the overall volume of the device by 25% for maximum portability. And for the new 11‑in. model, we kept the footprint of the 10.5‑in. model but increased the screen size by pushing it all the way to the edges.
The technology inside iPad Pro has been completely redesigned to fit into less space while improving performance. Because the bezel size has been reduced to allow the display to get closer to the edge, we redesigned the 12‑megapixel camera to fit within the minuscule space directly behind the bezel. The speakers, antennas, and other components were also redesigned to fit inside the new iPad Pro, which is just 5.9 mm thin.
Now on iPad Pro, Face ID delivers the world’s most secure facial authentication in a tablet or a computer. With just a glance, you can unlock your iPad, log in to apps, and make secure purchases. And Face ID on iPad Pro can recognize your face whether you hold it in portrait or landscape.
The TrueDepth camera system is composed of multiple innovative technologies. Working together in real time, they use a detailed depth map of your face to recognize you and only you in an instant. The camera system is unique to iPad, with a wide field of view that allows Face ID to work in any orientation. The TrueDepth camera also enables features like Portrait mode, Selfie Scenes in Clips, and Animoji and Memoji in Messages and Group FaceTime.
Simple, intuitive gestures help you get around iPad Pro entirely with Multi‑Touch. Simply tap the screen to wake iPad Pro. Swipe up from the bottom to reveal the Dock in any app. Swipe up and pause halfway to get to the App Switcher. And quickly swipe up from the bottom to get home from anywhere.
