Southington, Conn. — December 8, 2005.... Baumer Electric has introduced two long distance laser diffuse sensors with background suppression that detect extremely small and/or thin objects as well as depressions at distances of up to 1.5 meters regardless of background color or reflectivity.
The OHDM 12 and OHDM 20 sensors easily detect reflective objects (white) on non-reflective backgrounds (black) and vise versa. These sensors provide an on/off signal – the target is either detected or it is not. The sensors are ideal for long-range part placement, part detection, counting, and control monitoring in a range of industries including automotive, food/beverage, semiconductor/electronics assembly, print/graphics, packaging, and medical equipment manufacturing.
The OHDM 12 features a sensing range of 16 to 120 mm, with a beam diameter of 0.9 to 0.5 mm. Response time is less than 0.9 ms with release time less than 2.7 ms. The rectangular sensor measures 12.4 mm wide by 37 mm long by 34.5 mm deep, and features a housing of die cast zinc.
The sensing range of the OHDM 20 is 200 to 1500 mm, with a beam diameter of 2 mm. Response time is less than 0.6 ms and release time is less than 18 ms. This larger sensor measures 20.6 mm wide by 65 mm long by 50 mm deep with a die cast zinc housing.
Both sensors are IP-67 sealed and function well in operating temperature ranges from 0ºC to +50ºC.
