Metalworking Coated and Wire Wheel Abrasives

Description

DEWALT announced today the launch of a new line of Metalworking Coated Abrasives and Wire Wheel Abrasives that are ideal for professional welders and fabricators who work in fabrication shops or in shipyards and for maintenance personnel. The Metalworking Coated Abrasives can be used on steel, stainless steel, paint and other surfaces to prepare for fabrication, and for cleaning, finishing, or polishing.

"DEWALT strives to provide abrasives users with products they can rely on," said Brad Nohr, Product Manager, DEWALT. "These new products meet the daily challenges professionals face on the jobsite and help increase productivity. Our innovations provide time and cost savings with products like flap wheels for angle grinders, and the QDC mounting system for quick change discs that integrates the discs and backing pad into one piece."

DEWALT's line of Metalworking Coated Abrasives offers professionals a full range of products so that they have the right tools for the job. The coated abrasives feature the new zirconia cool cut and the XP3 ceramic discs. The zirconia cool cut discs are designed with a special coating to reduce heat in the work piece, which decreases the possibility of heat discoloration. Ceramic grain is the most durable and longest lasting conventional grain available, thus, the XP3 ceramic discs are four times faster and last 10 times longer than traditional high-performance aluminum oxide abrasives on the market.

This range also features the new QDC arbor for quick-change discs that can save contractors up to  20 percent of the cost of using quick-change discs by integrating the abrasive and the backing pad into one consumable part.  Additionally, DEWALT's new Flex Flap wheel combines the benefits of a flap wheel with the flexibility of use for  angle grinders.

The new line of wire wheels is ideal for a variety of applications including welding, cleaning, rust removal, surface contamination removal and prepping surfaces for paint. The range includes two levels of performance: High Performance and Extended Performance.  Extended Performance wheels use a higher tensile strength wire, have more wires, and last 75 percent longer than High Performance wheels.  Wheels are available in both carbon steel for general applications and stainless steel wire for stainless steel applications.
