New marine-quality sensors are impervious to seawater and salt spray

Description

Contrinex has introduced a line of marine-standard inductive sensors with housings made from AISI 316L stainless steel that is impervious to seawater and salt spray and will not rust in the most extreme maritime environments.

In addition to environmental hazards, marine installations are often located in aggressive situations where mechanical elements and control devices need to be physically protected against collision damage. Machined from a single piece of stainless steel that includes the sensing face, the Marine Series 700 range can withstand extreme impact, high shock levels and is resistant to virtually any chemical stress. The use of patented, sensor technology known as Condet® produces a sensing distance that is, size for size, three times that of conventional sensors and is stable over its full temperature range from -25ºC to +85ºC.

Another advantage of the unique Contrinex technology is that it delivers the same long sensing distances on alloys, such as brass, aluminum and bronze as it does on steel. This ensures practical clearances from targets to be detected without the need for precision set-ups that are often needed with conventional sensors to ensure reliable feedback.

The use of new technology seals the sensors to 1,150 psi providing IP69K protection and the ability to withstand water pressure to a depth of 800 meters.

These new sensors are suitable for both sub-surface and topside applications such as ROV grippers, ferry ramps, cranes and other equipment in all types of vessels, harbors, docks and oil rigs and in any other installation subjected to continuous salt spray.

They are supplied in M12, M18 and M30 sizes, in embeddable and non-embeddable formats with a built-in LED plus short circuit, voltage reversal and overload protection.
