NIOSH approved 15-minute, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus

Description

Draeger Safety, Inc. located in Pittsburgh, PA is introducing a NIOSH approved 15-minute, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for emergency entry or escape in potentially hazardous environments. This new unit combines versatility, ease of use and the latest in breathing apparatus design. Equipped with the optional Supplied Airline Respirator attachment the Micro can be configured for up to 300 feet or 12 hose length sections from the air source. This back mounted unit, uses a similar carrying system as a traditional SCBA harness design and ergonomically follows the natural contours of the wearer’s back for comfort and stability during use. The hose and pressure reducer have been integrated into the back-plate, reducing the risk of snagging, protecting the pressure reducer and adding to the streamlined shape. The unit has configurations that have been fully approved for use in applications requiring either; short duration entry units, airline emergency escape breathing apparatus, or dual function. Should the airline supply fail for any reason, the escape cylinder would be employed by simply opening the cylinder valve. The new harness and the mask material meets rigorous requirements of EN137 heat and flame resistance, which tests the equipment up to 1742º F. Any flame will self-extinguish within 5 seconds. The unit is fully machine washable. The material used is anti-static and is inert to chemicals and oil and impervious to most acids and alkalis. The new PAS-Micro Airline Work Unit from Draeger Safety, with 15 minute Emergency Escape cylinder has a SAR (supplied airline respirator) pigtail, 15-minute escape cylinder for entry and working in hazardous environments, and comes without a remote cylinder pressure gauge.
