Eliminate production inefficiencies and frequent valve maintenance with the patent-pending Quantum Series Orifice Gate, a leading-edge valve designed specifically to handle dry bulk solids in gravity flow, dilute phase, or vacuum conveying up to 15 psig (1 bar), depending on size and modifications. Quantum Series Orifice Gate valves by Vortex Valves North America, a division of the Salina Vortex Corporation, feature a full-flange, weather-resistant design with improved sealing performance, higher durability, easier maintenance, and fewer replacement parts. It represents a significant design innovation over Vortex’s original Orifice Gate. Sizes for the Vortex Quantum Series Orifice Gate range from 2? to 14? (50mm to 350mm).
Traditional knife gates or butterfly valves are designed to handle gases and liquids, and not dry materials. These valves rely on soft rubber seals that erode or tear away during use, allowing leakage of air and material through the valve and into the atmosphere. The Quantum Series Orifice Gate is designed to eliminate these problems. The Quantum Orifice Gate’s blade and seal design allows the valve to “self-clean” on the opening stroke, which prevents material from packing on the valve’s internal seals. This feature is critical to maintain cleanliness and inhibit material leakage across the valve or into the atmosphere.
The versatile Quantum Orifice Gate, which is well-suited for many dry material handling applications, can be applied to control, shutoff, or meter material flow of non-abrasive to moderately abrasive powders, granulars, or pellets. It includes hard-polymer seals that compensate for wear over time. These seals are also protected from blast abrasion, allowing for long-service life and durability.
The Quantum Series Orifice Gate is made using precision laser cutting and bending technology. Its narrow profile and lightweight construction weighs less than typical knife gates, allowing for easier installation of the valve. Maintenance on the Quantum Series Orifice Gate, when necessary, is quick and easy – and can be performed directly on the conveying line. Adapting the Quantum Series Orifice Gate to a system is made easy with a wide selection of actuators, gate positioning controls, position indication switches, flanges, and tube stubs. It also offers a wide variety of modifications to accommodate a range of temperatures, corrosive, humid, and hazardous environments.
