Safety-Coated Reduced-Wattage Metal Halide Lamps for Energy-Efficiency

Shat-R-Shield, the leading and largest manufacturer of shatter-resistant lamps, announces the addition of reduced-wattage metal halide lamps to their line of safety-coated lighting products.

“Although much activity in reducing lighting costs is focused on the new energy-efficient fluorescent lamps, we also offer reduced-wattage HID’s so current users of metal halide lamps can cut their energy costs, as well.”  Said Karen Ponce, Shat-R-Shield president.  “The reduced-wattage metal halides offer identical lighting performance specifications as their higher-wattage counterparts, such as lumen output, CRI and rated-life.”

A 360-watt metal halide lamp will immediately save 40-watts of power compared to the standard 400-watt model.  Based on the utility rate of $0.10/kWh, over the rated-life of the lamp, a savings of $80.00 in the cost of energy is estimated.  A 360-watt metal halide lamp is a direct replacement for a 400-watt model with no ballast change required.  Reduced-wattage metal halides have protective shrouds, can be used in open fixtures, and are offered as clear or inside-frosted models.
