Software Fast Tracks Component Engineering

Description

MISUMI USA is introducing Rapid Design, a free software suite developed to help simplify and accelerate the factory automation design process for engineers, at this year’s International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS). As a highly-anticipated exhibitor with a disruptive industry development, MISUMI USA will be conducting live demonstrations of its new Rapid Design for show attendees. Those who stop by the company’s booth (#134757) will see firsthand the software’s fluid ability to streamline and speed up the work flow for engineers.

The Rapid Design package consists of four platforms, each with unique features to help expand an engineer’s design capabilities and reduce time required to construct CAD (consumer-aided design) assemblies, accessing MISUMI’s 80 sextillion part configurations.

Accessible now on the MISUMIUSA.com website, Rapid Design’s free inCAD Library, houses hundreds of industrial and factory automation applications using MISUMI components, each including a downloadable Bill of Materials and CAD model.

inCad Components is a next-generation 3D CAD generator that runs alongside SolidWorks. It allows users to manipulate MISUMI’s configurable components, research pricing and access technical information without leaving SolidWorks. Approximately 99% of MISUMI components are accessible through inCAD Components. This Rapid Design platform streamlines the process by eliminating the tedious steps of configuring part numbers, downloading CAD models, saving files and importing them into SolidWorks. Two additional elements of the Rapid Design software suite will be released soon. inCAD Frames will give MISUMI customers access to infinite design possibilities within the Aluminum Extrusion framework. inCAD Exchange will be an information resource, allowing users to review parts by multiple manufacturers within the CAD environment.

According to MISUMI President Nobuyuki Ashida, “Our 80 sextillion configurations make us a one-of-a-kind resource for our customers. To make that number even more valuable, however, tools like Rapid Design will educate and empower customers to tap into the infinite possibilities our components provide. Our independent user testing indicates Rapid Design can cut design time by 30%, and we plan to push that number even higher.”
