Thermo Electron Introduces Top-of-the-Line Goring Kerr PROx™ X-Ray Inspection System

Description

With its field-proven X-ray sensing system and sophisticated image analysis software, Thermo Electron’s Goring Kerr PROx provides actionable information that can track and improve the manufacturing process. The system not only operates over a wide temperature range and is IP65 wash-down compliant, but also meets the strictest of safety requirements from around the world. Its field-proven X-ray imaging system and flexible detection filters optimize the system’s detection sensitivity and reduce the number of product rejects on the assembly line.

“We’ve been industry leaders in X-ray inspection technology for over 20 years and we understand the diverse needs of our customers,” said Bob Ries, Thermo Electron’s contaminant detection product manager. “The Goring Kerr PROx is designed to be easy to use, while at the same time providing powerful and flexible X-ray detection capability. It will reduce the number of rejected products coming out of production and ultimately improve safety as well as the bottom line for a wide range of customers.”

The product is specifically designed for easy operation by the factory operator and has a large, color touch-screen employing an intuitive icon-based graphical interface making product set-up and selection a simpler task. New products can be set-up by a technician in a matter of minutes with clear graphical feedback along the way.

To meet a wide variety of customer applications the Goring Kerr PROx is available in three basic models – a conveyor system for packaged products; a bulk flow system with 1/2/4 lane operation to minimize scrapped product; and a pipeline system for liquids and slurries. The conveyor system is also available in a new small size, low cost, entry-level configuration called the model C1.

“Machine size, complexity, and cost have inhibited greater on-line implementation of X-ray equipment for continuous process verification,” noted ARC Advisory Group Field Systems Analyst, Paula Hollywood. “Proven technology in a smaller footprint such as the Goring Kerr PROx meets this need with the added benefit of greater installation flexibility as well as addressing risk mitigation and regulatory compliance issues for food manufacturers.”
