Wireless Pressure Control RSS for Maximum Operator Safety

Description

SCHUNK is the first company to introduce a wireless pressure control system for pneumatic lathe chucks. The SCHUNK RSS system is a world premiere of wireless pressure control that is directly connected to the control unit of the machine. It ensures trouble-free signal transmission in any machine and increases process safety in turning applications.

The new wireless pressure control system RSS is used to monitor clamping pressure in OD clamping applications. Without any wires between the chuck and the machine, the clamping pressure is checked on a regular basis, even during turning applications. The signal is transmitted automatically to the control unit of the machine every 12 – 15 seconds. This ensures a permanent control of the clamping pressure of the chuck. In case of a loss in pressure, the RSS transmits the signal to the control of the machine, which in turn stops the spindle immediately.

The RSS system is available for all SCHUNK lathe chucks type TP/EP/TB/TB-LH and EP-LH. A double version option is available to control clamping pressure for ID and OD clamping starting with chucks 200mm in diameter. Current users of pneumatic chucks sizes 400mm and larger can retrofit their pneumatic chucks with the RSS System.
